What Is a Unit Fraction?
Today you will learn what a unit fraction like 1/4 means. Think about one whole tortilla. Your family cuts it into 4 equal parts. Cutting into equal parts is called partitioning. One of those 4 equal parts is 1/4 of the tortilla. A unit fraction is the amount made by just one part of a whole.
