Introduction

You will be able to explore and explain how an animal's outside body parts help it survive where it lives. An external structure is a body part on the outside of an animal. Legs, fur, beaks, and tails are external structures. Every structure has a function. A function is the job a part does. Animals do not choose their body parts. They are born with them. Each kind of animal has parts that fit its home.
